Why Santa Clarita Patients Choose Canyon Urgent Care

When you’re sick or hurt, you want care that’s fast, affordable, and actually caring. You don’t want to wait three hours at an ER for something that’s not an emergency. That’s why we built Canyon Urgent Care the way we did. We’re locally owned by medical providers who live and work right here in Santa Clarita, not a faceless corporate chain with rotating staff. Our team includes experienced nurse practitioners and physicians with backgrounds in emergency medicine and family practice. We keep our pricing transparent, our wait times short, and our approach simple: listen to what’s wrong, figure out what’s going on, explain it clearly, and help you feel better.

Frequently Asked Questions About Office Visits

How much does a general office visit cost?

The office visit is $120 for returning patients or $95 for new patients on their first visit only. This covers your provider consultation, examination, diagnosis, and treatment plan. Tests and procedures (like strep tests, X-rays, or stitches) are billed separately, and we’ll always tell you the cost before we proceed. We accept most major insurance plans, and your copay may be less than our self-pay rate.

    Do I need an appointment?

No. We’re a walk-in urgent care clinic. Just show up during our hours and we’ll get you checked in and seen as quickly as possible. Most patients are seen within 15-30 minutes of arrival.

How long will my visit take?

Most visits take 30-60 minutes from check-in to checkout, depending on what you need. If you need testing like X-rays or lab work, it may take a bit longer, but we work efficiently to get you in and out while still providing thorough care.

What should I bring to my visit?

Bring your photo ID, insurance card (if using insurance), a list of current medications, and notes on your symptoms. If you have medical records from recent visits to other providers, bring those too. But if you don’t have everything, don’t let that stop you from coming in. We’ll work with what you have.

    Can I get a prescription?

Yes. If your provider determines you need medication, they’ll send a prescription electronically to your pharmacy of choice. Most prescriptions are ready for pickup within an hour.

What if I need tests or X-rays?

We have on-site testing including strep tests, flu tests, COVID tests, urinalysis, X-rays, and EKG. If your provider recommends testing, we’ll explain why it’s needed and how much it costs before we do it. Most test results are available the same day.

Does insurance cover urgent care visits?

Most insurance plans cover urgent care visits with a copay, though coverage varies by plan. We accept Anthem Blue Cross, Anthem Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Health Net, Humana, Medicare, and Medi-Cal. We’ll verify your coverage when you arrive and let you know your expected out-of-pocket cost.

    Can I bring my child?

Yes. We see patients of all ages, from infants to seniors. Our providers are experienced in pediatric care and can treat common childhood illnesses and injuries.

Do you see seniors and Medicare patients?

Absolutely. We accept Medicare and treat many senior patients for a wide range of conditions. Our providers are experienced in geriatric care and understand the unique health needs of older adults.

What if I need follow-up care?

We offer telehealth visits until 10 PM daily for follow-up questions, medication adjustments, or symptom checks. You can also walk in for in-person follow-up visits anytime during our regular hours. We’re here for you beyond just the first visit.

Can you write work notes or school excuse letters?

If your condition is beyond what urgent care can treat, we’ll tell you honestly and help you get to the right place. Whether that’s the ER, a specialist, or your primary care doctor. We’ll never keep you here if you need a higher level of care.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?

Yes. We accept HSA and FSA cards as payment for your visit and any additional services.

    What are your hours?

We’re open Monday through Friday 9 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 9 AM to 6 PM. Telehealth is available daily until 10 PM.

Do I need to be established as a patient first?

No. Walk in anytime, whether it’s your first visit or your tenth. New patients are always welcome, and your first office visit is discounted to $95.
